Counselling & Psychotherapy

What we do

Counselling presents a safe space where clients can speak freely without the fear of being judged.

Cogar counselling offers adolescent and adult counselling and can help people with a range of issues that impact their well being or help them overcome traumas from their past.

About Me

I am fully qualified counsellor with a MA in Counselling & Psychotherapy and I’m working towards my accreditation with the Association of Professional Counsellors & Psychotherapists in Ireland (APCP). I have my own private practice in Dingle working with Adolescents and Adults and I work with the charity HelpLink with their Irish Abroad Counselling Programme.

We offer discounts for students and the first consultation is free of charge.

Fully Insured Private and Confidential Evening and Weekend Appointments Available

Counselling sessions are also available by Zoom.

Our Services

We use an Integrative Approach to counselling, with a variety of techniques and tools to help aid my clients. Clodagh offers a low cost, confidential service to her clients either Face to Face or through Zoom.

She follows the Ethical Guidelines set out in APCP codes of practice, and she attends regular supervision and part takes in regular workshops and courses to continue her professional development and to ensure she is offering her clients the best service possible.

Psychoeducation is an important part of counselling. A counselling session is only 50 minutes out of your day, 50 minutes of your week so it is important that you are continuing to do work outside your counselling sessions.
Cogar Counselling will direct you to resources you may find useful outside the session it may be books, podcasts, Youtube videos, other organisations… We want clients to get the most out of their sessions each week and to help them understand why they may be feeling a certain way.

“Psychoeducation, the goal of which is to help people better understand (and become accustomed to living with) mental health conditions, is considered to be an essential aspect of all therapy programs. It is generally known that those who have a thorough understanding of the challenges they are facing as well as knowledge of personal coping ability, internal and external resources, and their own areas of strength are often better able to address difficulties, feel more in control of the condition(s), and have a greater internal capacity to work toward mental and emotional well-being.”
